Quality That Supports Learning Success

For organizations dedicated to education, training, and professional development, ISO 21001 certification transforms your commitment into a visible, verifiable asset. This independent validation builds lasting trust among learners, employers, funding partners, and key stakeholders alike, while facilitating seamless recognition in new regions or markets. In a highly competitive learning and development landscape, this credible proof of quality is a key differentiator.

Typical Effects of ISO 21001 Certification in practice:

The value of certification extends beyond external proof of conformity. Many organizations use recurring audits and assessment processes as a framework for continuous improvement, operational transparency, and stronger cross-functional alignment. In practice, organizations report powerful outcomes such as:

  • Stronger learner and stakeholder trust in your quality and educational programs.
  • A clearer, sharper focus on learning outcomes through structured processes.
  • Smoother accreditation, funding and budget conversations backed by objective evidence.
  • Better consistency across programs, campuses, and business units.
  • A credible quality signal that supports global recognition.

ISO 21001 is currently in transition to the revised version.

The second edition, ISO 21001:2025, has been published, and certificates issued against the previous ISO 21001:2018 edition are expected to lose their validity at the end of the customary three-year transition period. DQS will soon offer audits and certification against ISO 21001:2025, so organizations starting their certification journey can align directly with the current edition. That means working with the most up-to-date standard early on—and avoiding any later upgrade step or the pressure of a transition deadline.

ISO Certification Process from DQS english
From inquiry to quotation

Once your management system for education, training, or professional development has been implemented across the organization, it is ready for certification. You will go through a multi-stage certification process at DQS. Your initial interaction will involve discussing your organization, your specific educational or training operations, and the objectives you aim to achieve with your ISO 21001 certification. Based on this, you will promptly receive a detailed quote tailored to your individual needs. For complex certification processes, project planning can help coordinate timelines and audit execution across sites, branches or departments.

ISO 21001 certification audit: Stage 1 and Stage 2

The certification audit begins with a system analysis (stage 1 audit) as well as an evaluation of your documentation, the results of your management review, and your internal audits. The goal is to determine whether your management system is adequately developed and ready for certification. In the next stage, the system audit (stage 2), your auditor evaluates the effectiveness of all management system processes on-site or through suitable remote techniques. After the external audit is completed, you will receive a detailed presentation of the results in a closing meeting, along with information on potential areas of improvement for your organization. If necessary, action plans will be agreed upon.

ISO 21001 certificate

After the certification audit, the results are evaluated by the independent certification body of DQS. You will receive an audit report documenting the audit results. If all standard requirements are met, following a positive certification decision, you will receive the accredited ISO 21001 certificate of DQS.

Surveillance audits

To support continuous improvement and confirm the ongoing effectiveness of your educational organizations management system, key system components are audited at least once a year, during which potential areas for improvement are once again identified.

ISO 21001 recertification

An ISO 21001 certificate is valid for three years. Well before expiration, a recertification is performed to confirm ongoing conformance with the ISO 21001 standard requirements. If all requirements of the standard are met, a new internationally recognized certificate will be issued.
