Release of ESD TR53-01-22

ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 has been released in Dec 2021, to replace its former version of ANSI/ESD S20.20-2014. You can refer to our former news about the release of ANSI/ESD S20.20:2021.

For use together with ANSI/ESD S20.20:2021, ESD TR53-01-22 has been published by ESDA on May 20, 2022, which is to replace ESD TR53-01-18.

What is ESD TR53-01-22?

It provides compliance verification test procedures and trouble shooting guidance for ESD control items performance verification, but product qualification (a term in ANSI/ESD S20.20) of ESD control items is excluded from its scope. It can be referenced in compliance verification plan, with the necessary compliance verification procedures.

What are the primary changes to TR53-01-22?

• Significant new revision.
• Addition of a General Use of This Technical Report section was added.
• Updates to the test equipment section with the addition, removal and renaming of equipment, as well as updating equipment requirements.
• Grounding/Equipotential Bonding Systems was updated to reflect the need to establish an ESD grounding/bonding reference point as a basis for resistance to ground measurements.
• Document was reformatted and procedures updated to follow the outline defined in ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021.
• Informative Annexes were added to provide verification techniques for equipment that is frequently used compliance verification procedures.

Transition

• Since it's for use together with ANSI/ESD S20.20:2021, the adoption of TR53-01-22 by an organization can follow its adoption of ANSI/ESD S20.20:2021 to its ESD control program.
