As the authors of the standard note, occupational health and safety is “laid down in European and national regulations, laws and/or ordinances, as well as in the rules and regulations of statutory accident insurance providers”. With regard to compliance, ISO 45001 therefore plays an important “complementary role”, providing valuable guidance on the assessment of legal obligations and enabling organizations to close gaps and meet legal obligations.
