RSCI Certification:The Automotive Industry

Among the many manufacturing industries around the world, the automotive industry occupies a pivotal position due to its large scale and influence. Origin and Objectives of the RSCI was launched in October 2021 by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) with the aim of advancing sustainability in automotive supply chains on a global scale. The initiative quickly gained support from 14 founding members, including Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Ford, covering both automakers and suppliers. The Responsible Supply Chain Initiative (RSCI) is committed to being a leader in automotive supply chain sustainability, setting a high standard for the industry as a whole. Through its comprehensive assessment and certification system, RSCI promotes corporate excellence in environmental protection, social responsibility and business ethics. Implementation Mechanism RSCI helps companies assess the sustainability performance of their supply chains by providing assessment tools and processes, including evaluation of suppliers' social responsibility, environmental protection measures and ethical behavior. Starting from July 2022, member companies can apply for the assessment through the RSCI online platform.

The assessment process includes a registration request, on-site assessment, preparation of an assessment report, development of a corrective action plan, and obtaining the RSCI label. The process is not only transparent but also efficient, ensuring that companies can identify problems and take improvement measures in a timely manner.
