IATF has recently approved significant changes to the Rules for Achieving and Maintaining IATF Recognition.

These changes, outlined in the 6th Edition of the Rules, will have an impact on certification bodies and organizations certified to IATF 16949.

Publication Date

The IATF will publish the updated Rules in English and twelve other languages. These publications will be available for purchase starting by 31 March 2024.

Certified organizations are encouraged to purchase a copy of the IATF Rules 6th Edition.

Implementation Period

To ensure a smooth transition, IATF has granted a maximum of nine months, beginning from 31 March 2024, for both IATF-recognized certification bodies and clients to implement the required changes.

IATF Rules 6th Edition is effective and shall be fully implemented by 1 January 2025.
