Audits for Remote Locations in IATF 16949

For IATF 16949 certification, the supporting functions in remote locations shall be included in certification scope. Normally, the audits to remote locations are to be audited before the manufacturing site, especially for an initial audit or a regular audit with scope change.

An incomplete or invalid audit to a remote location will affect the validity of the whole certification.

On the other hand, if the remote location is also included in the scope of ISO 9001 certification as a further location, it shall be regularly audited as well. Nevertheless, the rules by IAF (International Accreditation Forum) for ISO 9001 audits and certifications are different the rules for IATF 16949 audits and certifications by IATF (International Automotive Task Force), for example, in terms of audit days determination and audit bodies.
