The ISO/TC 176 SC2 technical committee voted in favor of revising the ISO 9001 quality management system standard. The revision aims to address current changes in the business environment, such as increasing complexity, dynamics, and the use of new technologies. Key changes include adjustments to aspects like resilience, supply chain management, change management, sustainability, dealing with risks, and organisational knowledge. The basic structure of the standard will be retained, with the High Level Structure being replaced by the new Harmonised Structure. The revisions are expected to ensure the standard remains relevant and applicable to modern organisations.

Reasons for ISO 9001:2015 Changes:

The decision to revise the ISO 9001 standard is driven by current changes in the business environment, such as increasing complexity, dynamics, and the use of new technologies. These changes make adjustments urgently necessary to the application of quality management systems. The revisions aim to adapt the standard to the current circumstances in which organisations operate, ensuring it remains relevant and effective in addressing emerging trends and challenges. The revisions will focus on developing supplementary guidance, addressing globalisation issues, sustainability aspects, and revising the seven quality management principles. Overall, the revisions aim to help organisations enhance their quality management practices, improve effectiveness, and increase customer satisfaction.
