The AA1000 AccountAbility Principles (2018)

A part of the AA1000 Series of Standards is the new AA1000AP (2018). It is an internationally accepted, principles-based framework and guidance that organisations can use to identify, prioritise and respond to sustainability challenges to improve long-term performance.

The AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard (2015)

Stakeholder engagement is now accepted as integral to an organisation’s sustainability and success. Stakeholders are the individuals, and groups of individuals or organisations that affect or could be affected by an organisation’s activities, products or services and associated performance regarding the issues addressed by the engagement.

Purpose & Scope

The AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard (AA1000SES) is a generally applicable framework for the assessment, design, implementation and communication of quality stakeholder engagement.

Commitment and Integration

Stakeholder engagement must be embedded in an organisation's culture and core functions. AA1000SES requires a commitment to the AA1000APS Principles and an integration of stakeholder engagement in organisational governance, strategy and operations.

Successful engagement is dependent on understanding why an organisation is engaging (purpose), what issues to engage on (scope), and who needs to be involved in the engagement (ownership, mandate, stakeholders).

Application and reporting of each AccountAbility Principle (AA1000AP, 2018)

Basic sustainability assurance knowledge using the AA1000AS v3 - Certification contributes toward the requirements to progress to higher CSAP levels, such as (PCSAP and LCSAP).

Module A, as indicated below is the first of three modules that we will begin covering in our journey towards helping you gain a full understanding of the Assurance Standard.
