Executive Overview
How JAS Uses Certification to Elevate Global Freight and Contract Logistics
With operations touching every mode of transport - Air, Ocean, Road and Rail, managing both warehousing and value-added services, JAS Worldwide operates in a highly diverse and demanding global landscape.
To ensure internal consistency and to meet external expectations, JAS relies on internationally recognized certifications for quality, safety, environmental responsibility, and pharmaceutical compliance. Working with DQS, they’ve built a portfolio that includes ISO 9001, GDP, and other certifications for security and sustainability, enabling not just regulatory compliance, but a smarter, safer, and more aligned global operation. We spoke to their team about their commitment to quality.
“Certifications help to build trust,” says Alexandra Davin, VP Global QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) at JAS. “They show that we’re proactively improving our operations, not just doing the bare minimum.”

The Challenge: Diverse Requirements, Global Network
JAS supports some of the world’s leading companies and highly demanding industries. But with that comes a diverse standard portfolio, varying regional regulations, and customer-driven expectations for certification.
Whether managing value-added services in contract logistics or coordinating complex global shipment needs, JAS relies on a consistent framework that is applied globally, even in highly variable conditions.
“ISO 9001 has become a minimum requirement,” said Davin. “Every customer can request our proof of certifications and processes. For JAS, it’s not just about laws and compliance, it’s about our customer expectations.”
The Solution: A Certification Program That Goes Beyond Compliance
Rather than treating certification as a checkbox, JAS sees it as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and build a resilient organization.
“Audits should not be seen as a negative exercise. It can only improve our operations, by engaging our employees and stakeholders,” says Davin.
JAS adopted a forward-thinking approach with DQS: Using audits as tools to improve communication, integrate new locations and elevate visibility into best practices to strengthen internal alignment across regions.
This mindset led to tangible shifts, especially in how the quality and sustainability teams in JAS’ offices and warehouses collaborate, and in how internal successes are recognized and shared.
The Impact: Internal Alignment and Shared Best Practices
Audits can reveal compliance and risks, but also highlight operational strengths that deserve celebration and replication across the company. As a result, JAS fosters a culture of cross-regional learning and open dialogue around quality.
“We realized we have to celebrate best practices with our QHSE experts and colleagues -and share them with our organization,” summarizes Davin.
This initiated a new approach for collaboration such as “Lessons Learned” one-pagers, allowing teams to share near-miss incidents, common root causes, and corrective actions across regions.
“We’re sharing what happened in one location within our network so others can learn and avoid the same thing. Not to hide mistakes—but to prevent and improve. We implemented our Pharma GDP Network with 52 certified sites in 2024 and the commitment to continuous learning and quality requirements was significant.”
Uniting Global QHSE and Sustainability functions streamlined internal collaboration.
“Quality, Health, Safety, and Sustainability are all connected—bringing them together helped us align our work and share knowledge within the JAS network more effectively.”

Looking Ahead: Risk, Resilience, and Future Certifications
JAS is planning an employee risk management training as the next step in their quality evolution- emphasizing risk awareness, planning and mitigation strategies. As they grow their network and expand into various new geographies and business models, a strong risk management approach strengthens their Business Continuity and Quality approach.
“We’re discussing a risk management training with DQS. Risk is included in every standard, but it is not always easy to grasp in the entire organization and daily operations. That’s where structured training helps.” said Davin
JAS is expanding into additional standards like ISO 13485, driven by specific pharmaceutical regulations and customer requirements.
