Why Hyundai Mobis chose DQS

Hyundai Mobis selected DQS for this critical certification due to their extensive experience and leadership in automotive Cyber Security standards. As a trusted certification body, DQS has a proven track record in successfully certifying automotive companies for high-level standards like TISAX®. Additionally, Hyundai Mobis has been a long time partner for DQS for Automotive standards like TISAX® and IATF in the APAC region, reinforcing their collaborative relationship in advancing Cyber Security standards in the automotive industry. The partnership between DQS and Hyundai Mobis ensures that the latter remains at the forefront of Cyber Security management while preparing for future industry challenges. Hyundai Mobis values DQS’s expertise, global presence, and commitment to maintaining stringent Cyber Security standards, making them a preferred partner for achieving compliance with the new VCS standard.

VCS as a new milestone for Cyber Security in the automotive industry

As a long-standing partner of ENX, DQS has been involved in the development and piloting from the outset and is making a significant contribution to the establishment of this new assessment standard.

ENX VCS allows automotive suppliers to provide standardised proof of an implemented Cyber Security management system (CSMS) in accordance with the ISO/PAS 5112 guideline. This can be used to prove that companies fulfil the technical requirements for implementing a CSMS in the supply chain in accordance with the international standard ISO/SAE 21434.

Hyundai Mobis has already established its own Cyber Security organisation in 2020 and focused on the further development of its Cyber Security management system. With the increasing amount of software and personal data in vehicles, more importance is being placed on Cyber Security.
‘In the future automotive industry, which is often referred to as the “smartphone on wheels,” the importance of Cyber Security is increasing,’ said Cheon Jae-seung, head of the Future Technology Convergence Institute at Hyundai Mobis.

‘The certification of Hyundai Mobis shows how important it is to establish globally harmonised standards for Cyber Security,’ explains Ingo Unger, International Business Development Manager at DQS GmbH. ‘Hyundai Mobis is sending a strong signal as a pioneer in the industry. With the VCS standard, companies now have the opportunity to demonstrate the strict requirements for Cyber Security on a global level and prepare for future challenges.’

Information and Cyber Security are the future topics of the automotive industry

The launch of the VCS program is a crucial step towards standardising Cyber Security in the automotive industry globally. ENX and its partners, including DQS and Hyundai Mobis, are setting new standards in automotive Cyber Security. They are once again proving their role as pioneers in the automotive industry.

‘A globally uniform auditing standard such as VCS is of crucial importance to ensure a consistent and reliable assessment of Cyber Security measures in the automotive industry,’ emphasises Christian Gerling, Managing Director of DQS GmbH. ‘We are proud that Hyundai Mobis has again chosen DQS as their trusted partner for the VCS certification after we have certified them for TISAX® in the past. The successful certification of Hyundai Mobis clearly shows that the VCS standard can ensure the highest security requirements worldwide across geographical borders.’
