The IFS PACsecure standard is currently under revision. Version 2 is expected to be published in the second half of 2021. Get all the important information about the schedule and possible changes in the following article.

After an expert group meeting in March and a public consultation in April 2019, the IFS PACsecure Standard working group has retired to analyze the collected data. Test audits have now been conducted since October 2020. The findings from these will be incorporated into a second draft, which will be put out to public consultation. The finalized IFS PACsecure Version 2 standard is expected in the second half of 2021.

The goal of the GFSI-approved standard is to be able to verify the quality and safety of all types of primary and secondary packaging. Among the anticipated changes in Version 2 is that unannounced audits will become mandatory. The use of the unannounced audit option will be mandatory every three years. Furthermore, it can be assumed that the standard can be partially audited remotely. However, at least 50% of the total audit duration must still be audited on-site. New scope areas are also expected, including on paints, adhesives and waxes.
